Impactful Quote
When listening to an interview of UK artist Bigzy Malone this quote stuck out to me:
“PROGRESS IS IRREVERSIBLE” -Bugzy Malone
When hearing this I can’t help but think of a caterpillar going through a metamorphosis. Through each stage of transition from egg to larva to pupa to the final stage of the butterfly, it grows and changes. Each transition is an irreversible change, there is no undo, no Ctrl-Z. As a larva, it spends its days eating endlessly working towards the goal of making it to a butterfly. As it eats the caterpillar(larva) grows, as it grows it sheds its old skin. It will do this a few times until it is finally ready to create the cocoon. It then goes into its final transformation before becoming a caterpillar.
Like the caterpillar, we have to keep putting in that work towards our goals and dreams. Every second and minute we spend on working towards the goal is irreversible, it can’t be undone, there is no Ctrl-Z. Throughout the journey like the caterpillar, you will begin to change. The “Future You” will be different as you will have more hours of practice under your belt, with that brings a new level of confidence in yourself. If ever doubt creeps into your mind, look back to all the purposeful hours you put and remind yourself that SUCCESS will be the byproduct of all that you have done.

The War of Art by Steven Pressfield
“The most important thing about art is to work. Nothing matters except sitting down every day and trying.” – Steven Pressfield
Resistance is the main reason why many of us don’t follow through on our dreams, goals, and tasks. Resistance is that little voice in your head that tells you to stay where you are and don’t take chances. Sometimes that little voice leads us to act in or on many of the different branches.
Resistance has many branches
- Procrastination
- Sex
- Trouble
- Self-Dramatization
- Victimhood
- Self-Medication
- The Choice of a Mate
These forms of resistance can’t be seen or touched. It can be felt, it’s when your energy pulls you away from what you know needs to be done.
The remedy to this is to treat your dreams like a full time job. Create a schedule, and have a set place to do your work. No matter how you feel, or what day it is, you go to that place and put in that work. When your dreams become a full-time job there is no such thing as not having inspiration, or being hit with writer’s block. You show up shut up and put in the work you need to achieve your goals.
